Mienshao has become very popular in the UU tier. But is it a good Pokemon for your Rain team? Read on to find out.

Stadard Physical

Mienshao (M) @ Normal Gem
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Drain Punch
- Acrobatics
- U-turn
- Fake Out

This set is the old tried and true Mienshao set. It has no problems with it. However, it doesn't get any benefit whatsoever from the Rain.

Special Set

Mienshao (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Aura Sphere
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power [Water]
- Swift/Grass Knot

This gets HP Water. Still, the physical set is probably better.

Mienshao is a great Pokemon, but doesn't really get much from Rain. However, its place on a Rain team would come from its typing. Fighting is in high demand with Rain to deal with Ferrothorn. The fact that Mienshao can hit Ferrothorn with Drain Punch to mitigate the damage taken from Iron Barbs helps a lot. Or it can use the Special set and not even take damage from Iron Barbs. All in all, its still a great Pokemon, just doesn't have too much claim to Rain.

4.5/10
